Veteran's Day

Veteran's Day is quickly approaching! This year the choir will be singing the anthems for each military branch. Choir members, here are the words, so you can practice these songs at home:

Coast Guard: We're always ready for the call. We place our trust in Thee.
Through surf and storm and howling gail high shall our purpose be.
Semper Paratus is our guide, our fame our glory too. To fight to save or fight and die!
Aye! Coast Guard we are for you!
Air Force: Off we go into the wild blue yonder, climbing high into the sun!
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder, at 'em boys! Give 'er the gun!
Down we dive spouting our flame from under. Off with one terrible roar!
We live in fame or go down in flame. Nothing'll stop the U.S. Air Force!
Navy: Anchors aweigh, my boys! Anchors aweigh! Farewell to college joys,
We sail at break of day, ay, ay, ay!
Though our last night ashore, hail to the foam!
Until we meet once more here's wishing you a happy voyage home!
Marine Corps: From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli.
We fight our countries battles in the air, on land and sea.
First to fight for right and freedom, and to keep our honor clean.
We are proud to claim the title of United States Marine!
Army: First to fight for the right, and to build the nation's might, and the Army goes rolling along.
Proud of all we have done fighting til the battles won, and the Army goes rolling along.
Then it's Hi! Hi! Hey! The Army's on it's way. Count off the cadence loud and strong!
For where e'er we go you will always know
That the Army goes rolling along!

I know the choir is going to do a great job at Veteran's day! They are prepared and sound fantastic.

Quaver Music

Students and Parents,

I am so excited to introduce a new music program called "Quaver Music". We will be using this program periodically in our music classroom, and the students have a wonderful opportunity to actually access many of the resources right from their home computer! Quaver music offers wonderful activities on their website that cover a wide range of musical topics. Activites are organized by musical concepts, and will coordinate with what we are doing in class. If you would like to review musical concepts at home, and have fun doing it, I would encourage you to check out http://www.quavermusic.com/ . Below are instructions that explains how to access the wonderful resources on this website. It is not necessary for you to create a member account. Creating a guest account will give you access to everything you need.

The CFISD elementary music department recently began utilizing the QuaverMusic.com teaching resources. Instructional DVDs, teacher guides, and an online teacher toolbox are components of the program. Your child may mention wanting to access the site, so we wanted to provide parents/guardians with adequate information. The site is:QuaverMusic.com
A “Guest” account is completely adequate and will provide access to most of the components used in class.
Please note that the Guest account provides access to most of the components excluding the social or “chat” features.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SIGNING UP STUDENTS:
1) Go to http://www.QuaverMusic.com/
2) Click the Sign Up window in the upper right corner
2a) Create a QuaverName
2b) Create a Password
2c) Enter their parent's email address
2d) Click "Agree" to Terms of Use
2e) Select your Avatar Gender
2f) Click Submit

3) Log In using the QuaverName and Password created above

Parents/Guardians will receive an “ACTIVATION” email from QuaverMusic.com
The email will ask if the parents wish to upgrade to a “MEMBER” account. At this point, DO NOTHING more to keep your child at the “GUEST” level.
If a parent/guardian chooses to “Activate” – thus upgrading to a MEMBER account, credit card information is required and the only added feature is that the child has access to the social or “chat” features of the QuaverMusic.com site.
There are no charges to the credit card unless QuaverNotes are purchased for use on the site.
*“QuaverNotes” are used for purchasing items on the site and do require credit card information from parents/guardians for each transaction. Such purchases are not required by the school or by the site.
