Music Memory 2012
This is your place to brush up on your music history! With your parents permission, use this website as a reference when you are preparing for Music Memory Contest 2012!
For the Parents....
What is Music Memory?
Music Memory is a unit that is taught in Elementary music throughout CFISD. Basically we teach about 8 chosen composers and a particular piece of music that they wrote. We discuss and analyze the music, time period it was written, and other musical elements such as tempo, dynamics, meter, texture and mood. The students are evaluated with a written test once all of the composers have been taught. The test will not reflect on their report card or anywhere for that matter. It is simply to create a little bit of fun competition amongst the students :) Once we take the first test, the contest advances like a tournament. The students who score the highest will advance to the next test, and finally the top 5 scores on the test will advance to the district competition. This contest will take place in May at the Berry Center, and is after school. Students are not required to participate in the district competition. Again, this contest is only to have fun studying famous composers, and will not be reflected on their report card. If your child would like a CD to practice at home with the songs, please have them bring a blank CD to school and I will put the music memory songs on it.
